Cut Paperwork and Enjoy Some Free Time Denise Stewart

Sites to be reviewed: SOCRATIVE GOOGLE DRIVE EDMODO BLOGGER LIVEBINDERS Agenda for today:)

Homework. Class papers. Quizzes. Tests. Projects. Exit Tickets. Current Paper Load?

Today, we will explore these 5 sites together. Time will be allotted so that each of you can explore any one (or all ) of the sites. Though I will be assisting as needed, try exploring with a partner as well. Think of this as “slightly structured” cooperative learning--ha ha ha:) Care to Have a Life Again? :)

Let us look at 5 key sections of SOCRATIVE. *Create User Name and Password *Dashboard-create a quiz and more *Import a quiz *My quizzes *Quiz settings SOCRATIVE

If you are tired of having students turn in assignments on binder paper, you are ready to try Google Docs (aka Google Drive). Students only need a GMAIL account to use it. Google Drive (Google Docs)

Directions for using Google Drive I will share the work I have done with my 9th grade English class (go to school site). Google Drive

Students type up their documents and then SHARE them with me to comment on. Once they are happy with the work, they submit it to me and I put them in folders by class. No paper to deal with! Google Drive

*Students can also do powerpoints here thanks to Google SLIDE SHARE (what I have used here with you). *As with all documents, they share the work with me so that I may provide feedback. *Again, I have no paper to deal with. Google Drive

Lastly, I like the presentation tools. Students may use SLIDE SHARE to prepare their formal presentations including VIDEO, PHOTOS, ILLUSTRATONS, CHARTS, etc. Since everything is saved on Google Drive, there is no chance of a student “misplacing it.” Google Drive

Think of this as an educational version of FACEBOOK. Not only can you use for your own classes, but you can also network with other teachers from around the world to support you in enhancing your lessons (or you enhancing theirs). EDMODO

I use EDMODO to provide educational (i.e. SAFE) websites for students to build academic skills along with English. EDMODO I sent out an ALERT about an assignment due 3/9. Edmodo

I have a library of safe sites I pull from to use as needed depending on the assignment for students. DISCOVER-Here I find other sites that fellow teachers around the world have recommended. EDMODO

*Teachers may also upload quizzes for students. Quizzes may be timed, questions may be randomly assorted to keep students from copying, and results are charted for both students and teachers. *Parents may also join and see their child’s progress. EDMODO

*Here is another great tool to use to boost writing skills in all content areas. *Students may journal in it (almost all subjects have some type of journal). *Students may do small group assignments in a shared blog (write, upload video, photos, illustrations, etc.). BLOGGER

Tired of bookmarking a mass of sites and then not remembering exactly where you sent the site? If yes (or you just want to make your life easier), you will LOVE this site. LIVEBINDERS

*Imagine a VIRTUAL notebook binder with tagged dividers--ex. English, literature, writing, assignments, homework, vocabulary, WHATEVER YOU wish:). Now imagine that you have the ability to put every site you like immediately in a section of that binder with a tab that has the subject area on it. LIVEBINDERS

I created 2 binders: One for CABE 2015.CABE 2015 One for SUBS (no more re-inventing the wheel).SUBS LIVEBINDERS

How do I effortlessly upload websites? Go to the HELP section on the home page and look for BOOKMARK TOOL. Drag it to your TOOLBAR and DONE:). You will now have total control over where your bookmarks go.BOOKMARK TOOL LIVEBINDERS

Another bonus feature. Once you join, you will have access to all the other binders teachers around the world have uploaded covering all subject areas and grade levels (through university). LIVEBINDERS

Everyone here has skills in some or all of these sites. I will do my best to support all, but as you explore the site (or sites), talk to the people to your right and left for additional support:) READY TO DIVE IN?

Go to Then go to CABE Workshops.CABE Workshops Then CABE 2015 Any questions? Text or me:) Thank you for coming! NEED THIS PRESENTATION?
