 43% of children say they have been bullied online.  68% of teens say cyber bullying is a serious problem.  Girls are twice as likely as boys to be cyber bullied.  Victims are 2 to 9 times more likely to commit suicide.

 Teach children how to use technology appropriately.  Always reinforce to children the importance of really thinking before posting anything online because it affects themselves and others.  Avoid forwarding hurtful/embarrassing messages or photos to anyone.  Prevent friends from doing harm or harassing someone.

 Parents/schools should speak to children about the harmful/damaging effects of cyber bullying.  Schools should promote anti-cyber bullying campaigns.  Especially with younger children, parents should monitor their children’s use of technology.  People should think more before posting anything online or sending a message via text message or Facebook message.
