Surfer Dude (Grahm Gober) 1. Define Internet. - A big computer network linking smaller computer networks worldwide. 2. What types of things can and should the internet be used for? - To research, communication, and entertainment. 3. What does WWW stand for? How is it different than the internet? - World Wide Web. The world Wide Web is based on the internet. 4. What is a browser? Name two. - It’s a type of search engine. Bing and Google. 5. What do you use a search engine for? Name two that are geared towards kids. Ask kids.com and Galileo. - You use a search engine to gather information or for entertainment.

What can be done to promote safe internet surfing? - Allowing only the appropriate websites and banding the bad ones. 8. What type of information should be given out over the internet? What should not? - You shouldn’t give out any personal information like your date of birth or social security number or any type of private information. Information like your name or country is sometimes okay to give out. 9. List 5 items you think should be included on your Top 10 list of Internet Safety Tips. -1) Never Give Away Personal Information -2) Be Careful What You Say -3) Only Use Trusted Sites -4) Be sure to not have any virus. -5) Keep a fire wall updated to keep virus off your computer.

What type of information can you give out in a chat room? - Sometimes your name or your gender.

What is the basic rule of netiquette? - remember the standards or behavior, remember the human, and know that your in cyber space. Always respect others. 3. What is a flame? A flame war? How can you avoid a flame war? - A flame is a post or message in a thread that are considered off topic. - A flame war a series of discussions on the web that are off topic between two or more people. 4. Name two things you should remember about being online? - Be careful what you get on, and only get on appropriate websites. 5. Why should you stay away from using all capital letters? - Capital letters indicate you are screaming.

What is the difference between a public and a private message? - A public message is a message with a bunch of people viewing it. A private message is when its only between you and another person and no one else can view it. 8. What is an emoticon? What can you use them for? Copy down at least two and what they mean. - An emoticon is a symbol to show the emotion you are in or the emotion your sentence is trying to show. To Show your emotion. this means your happy.  means your sad. 9.
