Salts : Calcium Carbonate Calcium carbonate is an important chemical compound made up of one atom of calcium bonded to one atom of carbon and three atoms of oxygen. Its molecular formula is CaCO₃. Common names for this compound include limestone, calcite, aragonite, chalk, and marble, and while all contain the same substance, each has different processes underlying its formation. Calcium carbonate is used in cements and mortars, producing lime, in the steel industry, glass industry, and as an ornamental stone.

Salts : Sodium Chloride Sodium chloride is a necessary component of human health, and it is also known as common salt. It is meant to be consumed in minimal quantities and provides the body with electrolytes and helps muscles relax. When consumed in large amounts, it may result in unwanted health problems such as high blood pressure. Sodium chloride is found in abundance in many products, and many cultures consume what are considered to be dangerously high levels of it.

Items Containing Sodium Chloride table salt

Salts : Sodium Benzoate Sodium benzoate is a sodium salt that occurring naturally in some foods, but is also widely used as a chemical preservative. It is used mainly as a food preservative, but is also found in cosmetics, dyes, pharmaceuticals, industrial settings. Sodium benzoate is a common ingredient in highly processed foods such as carbonated sodas, vinegar, fruit juices; in mixed ingredients like salad dressings; and to stop the fermentation process in wines. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Health Protection Branch in Canada (HPB) report that in low doses it is safe for consumption, although when combined with ascorbic acid it forms the chemical benzene, a suspected carcinogen.

Items Contain Sodium Benzoate soda soy sauce

Acids : Citric Acid Usually produced in powder form, citric acid is naturally found in citrus fruits. It easily mixes into liquids, making it a valuable acid. Lemons and limes have high concentrations of citric acid, accounting for their bitter taste. Oranges and tangerines are also high in citric acid, though lower than the more bitter citrus fruits. You can find citric acid present in certain berries too, particularly raspberries and blackberries.

Items Containing Citric Acid Orange, Lime

Acids : Benzoic Acid Benzoic acid is the simplest aromatic carboxylic acid. It is a solid of colorless crystalline. Benzoic acid salts are used as a food preservative.

Items Containing Benzoic Acid Cranberries Juice

Acids : Pantothenic Acid Pantothenic acid, also known as Vitamin B5, and Pantothenate is a water-soluble vitamin from the B group of vitamins. Water soluble means that this vitamin dissolves in water. It runs through the bloodstream and is excreted in urine.

Items That Contain Pantothenic Acid HL Milk

Base : Sodium Hydroxide Sodium Hydroxide is a chemical compound with a high alkaline content. The properties of the chemical make it ideal for use in a number of different applications, including the manufacture of cleaning products, water purification, and the manufacture of paper products. Because of the alkaline content, sodium hydroxide is a strong skin irritant, making it necessary to handle the product with great care during commercial use.
