What’s in a Biome?. What is a Biome? A biome is a broad geographic area that has similar climate, vegetation, and types of animals. Biomes are named for.
Biomes. The Biosphere is divided into regions called Biomes. Each Biome is occupied by characteristic communities or ecosystems of plants and animals.

The World Biomes By: Kayla Dann

Rainforest Biome The proboscis monkey lives in the rainforest. The proboscis monkey is found in the island of Borneo . This lusive monkey belongs to the Asian languor. Plant The jambu grows in the rainforest . The jambu grows naturally from southern India to the eastern Malaya The jambu is a small tree or a large shrub. Adaptations The proboscis monkey will sleep in trees to protect themselves for predators. The jambu likes plenty of rain throughout the year, so it can stay alive. The rainforests kinkajou , basilisks , orchid live in the rainforest . The temperature is 26’c and the rainfall is 3 meter per year.

Deciduous Forest Biome The coyote lives in the deciduous forest. Coyotes can live almost anywhere. When there is a lot of prey around they would hunt alone. Plant The American breech grows in the deciduous forest. It grows best in deep rich moist well drain soil . Adaptations For the coyote has a large prey they hunt in a pack. The American breech does not like to live in the cities because of the carbon monoxide. The deciduous forest have oaks , elms, maples , snakes , frogs , and salamanders in the deciduous . Also rabbits, bears, and deer live in the deciduous forest.

Grassland Biomes The northern lynx lives in the grassland. The northern lynx is basically a large cat with a powerful body. The northern lynx can be found on the steppes of Asia. Plant The sweet vernal lives in the grasslands . The sweet vernal is a typical steppe plant and it does not grow in too many places in Europe . In the grasslands they have decaying dead grasses from fertile soil. Bison , antelope, prairie dogs ,wolves, coyote, live in the grasslands.

Taiga Biomes The red fox lives in the taiga. The sly intelligent fox adapts well to different habitats. The red fox usually travels and hunt alone. Plant The jack pine grows in the taiga. The jack pine usually grows to be 27 meters tall. The bark of the jack pine is a reddish brown. Adaptations The red fox is specializes in hunting small mammals such as rabbits and many other. The jack pine has waxy pine needles rough bark to protect it from the cold wind. Bears ,elk and many more animals live in the taiga . Also the taiga is very chilly.

Desert Biome The cactus wren lives in the desert the cactus wren lives in the arid and semi arid desert . The cactus wren is usually found below 4,000 feet. Plant The pancake prickly pear cactus lives in the desert. The prickly pear cactus is a widely used and versatile cactus. The prickly pear cactus is in many places. Adaptations Animal: the cactus wren mainly eats insects like ants , beetles , grass hoppers and more. Plant: cati have reduced their leaves to spines to reduce water loss to protect the cactus. In the desert there is very little rain . And also the desert has lots of rocks, sand, hot and cool weather .

Tundra Biomes The snowy owl lives in the tundra . These owls are silent ,unless claiming their territory. When protecting there nest they use a loud barking and quacking sound. Plant The diamond-leaf willow grows in the tundra . On the tundra the diamond –leaf willow is known by the Inupiat names sura. The wood of some of the willows produce charcoal which they used to make gun powder. Adaptations Animal: the animal acts like weapons for catching and killing owls. The tundra is very cold with little rain. Also rodents, rabbits, caribou, weasels, owls, and foxes live in the tundra.
