EDIT 6200 Project: Prototype Classroom Performance System: Résumé Development Learning Module Darin Parker

How will the CPS be used in this project? This goal of our project is to utilize the CPS to enhance the instruction of resume development skills in Career Center presentations. Toward this end, the CPS will be used to help engage the learners in a dialogue with the instructor as well as to help the instructor determine how well the learners comprehend the material presented. What will this look like in the classroom? Step 1: Each student will be given a CPS “clicker” upon arriving for class.

What will this look like in the classroom? Step 2: The presenter will launch the “CPS enhanced” Resume presentation

What will this look like in the classroom? Step 3: During the presentation, when student feedback is appropriate, the instructor will click the “Questions” button, select the current lesson, and then select the proper question.

What will this look like in the classroom? Step 4: The question will display on the presentation screen and the instructor will click on the “Start” button to allow students to respond.

What will this look like in the classroom? Step 5: Students will then use their “clickers” to respond to the question: “A” = true and “B” = false

What will this look like in the classroom? Step 5: In order to respond, students will follow the process below: First: Press the button that corresponds to the students’ selected answer (in this case, “A” = true) Next: Press the “Send” button to transmit the answer to the instructor

What will this look like in the classroom? Step 6: After students have been given time to respond, the instructor will click the “Close” button to close the question.

What will this look like in the classroom? Step 7: After the question is “closed,” the results of the student feedback will be displayed on the presentation screen.

What will this look like in the classroom? Step 8: The instructor may then close the “responses/answer” screen and proceed with the presentation until student feedback is requested again.

What is the Classroom Performance System and what does it do? The CPS “clickers” may also be used to record numerical responses (such as answers to mathematical equations) and “multiple choice questions. CPS “clicker”

Example of Multiple Choice” Question/Response At the appropriate point in the presentation, the instructor may once again select an appropriate question from the prepared options.

Example of Multiple Choice” Question/Response The question and the possible responses will display on the presentation screen for the students to see.

Example of Multiple Choice” Question/Response To begin receiving student responses, the instructor may click the “Start” button.

What will this look like in the classroom? As before, students may use the CPS “clicker” to select their response before sending that response to the instructor. First: Press the button that corresponds to the students’ selected answer (in this case, “A”) Next: Press the “Send” button to transmit the answer to the instructor

Example of Multiple Choice” Question/Response After time for responses has ended, the instructor may click the “Close” button to finalize the responses.

Example of Multiple Choice” Question/Response When the question has been “closed”, the correct answer (along with class responses) is displayed on the presentation screen.

Example of Multiple Choice” Question/Response With the answer displayed, the instructor may also click the “graph” button to display the class responses in graph form.

Example of Multiple Choice” Question/Response This will display the class responses (including a color differentiation for the correct answer) on the presentation screen.

Example of Multiple Choice” Question/Response The instructor may then click the “Close” button to close the graphical display of the student responses.

Example of Multiple Choice” Question/Response The instructor may then click the “Close” button to close the original “student responses” display and return to the presentation.
