UNICEF Unicef ‘s work UNICEF is the world’s leading organisation focusing on children and child rights. They go out to more than 190 countries and territories, and work with local communities, partners and governments to ensure every child’s rights to survive and thrive are upheld. Only IF If the world were a fairer place, everyone would have the same chance in life. Most children develop into healthy adults if they are given proper medical care, a good education, decent housing and enough food. Fundraise UNICEF is delighted that interest in fundraising is in mind of so many people. No matter how big or small, the money that you raise will help them save and change children's lives all around the world. Next   

UNICEF Maurice Pate Biography Maurice Pate ( ) was UNICEF's first executive director from January 1947 until his death in January 1965, a few months before he was to retire. The year Pate joined UNICEF, millions of children were suffering the effects of World War II. After World War II, European children face famine and disease. UNICEF is created in December 1946 by the United Nations to provide food, clothing and health care to them. Action Aid About Us: We want a world without poverty, so we work with local people to fight hunger, seek justice for women and education for children, and cope with emergencies. The charity works for many reasons such as poverty, education, HIV and AIDS and hunger. Education: ACTION AID believes that :“Education is one of the best ways for people to lift themselves out of poverty, and a powerful weapon in the fight against aids. However, 67 million children in the world’s poorest countries – 57% of them girls – are denied a primary education. ” NEXT   

Action Aid Sponsor a Child Thousands of the world’s poorest children are hungry, homeless and desperately sick. But you can make a difference. Transform a child’s life by becoming a sponsor today. The Children’s Society About Us: The Children's Society is a children‘s charity which wants to create a society where children and young people are valued, respected and happy. Through their campaigns and research, they seek to influence policy and perceptions to improve child protection so that young people have a better chance in life. The Children's Society employs over 800 talented and dedicated staff across England. They offer a wide variety of exciting and challenging jobs, which include roles within their community-based programmes, head office positions, volunteering opportunities and some internships. NEXT   

The Children’s Society Our Belief and Values Their Christian values of love, justice and forgiveness underpin the way we work with children and young people. 1.Love is the obligation to care for the well-being of others, respect human dignity and put the needs of others before our own. 2.Justice is love in action - putting right what is not right in personal, social and political affairs. 3.Forgiveness is casting aside barriers to love. It is the discounting of all things that come between people, restoring and reconciling relationships. Save the Children About Us: Save the Children works in 120 countries. They save children’s lives. We fight for their rights. Also they help them fulfil their potential. They run world-class programmes and challenge world leaders to give children a brighter future. Where We Work: As well as helping children overseas they also help children over come their past and move on forward to the future. Nearly 1 in 3 children in England live in poverty. Given that England’s economy is one of the biggest in the world, the figures are astounding. (MORE INFO) NEXT   

Save the Children Emergencies: When disaster strikes, there is no time to lose. Our teams respond quickly and save children’s lives wherever disaster strikes. In 2011 we responded to 45 emergencies in 38 different countries and helped over 3 million children - our busiest year in 90 years. British Red Cross Who we are We are a volunteer-led humanitarian organisation that helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. We enable vulnerable people at home and overseas to prepare for and respond to emergencies in their own communities. And when the crisis is over, we help people recover and move on with their lives. Founder Jean-Henri (or Henry) Dunant was born in 1828 in the Swiss city of Geneva. He came from a wealthy, religious family. His father was a leading businessman who believed in helping others who are less fortunate. During the late 1850’s Dunant set up a company in Algeria, the violence and confusion of the battle and inadequate medical wounds affected him deeply. Over the next few years Henry concentrated on improving conditions for those affected by war. After Dunant quietly slipped away from public view and for more than 20 years lived like a beggar, the world wanted to rush to honour the man who had done so much for others. In 1901 he was honoured the first Nobel Peace prize. NEXT   

British Red Cross Donate Without the generosity of people like you, we wouldn't have been able to be there and make a difference to thousands of people when they most needed help. By supporting our Disaster Fund, your money will be used as soon as it is needed, anywhere in the world. Help us save lives the next time disaster strikes. Please donate today.
