Made By The 5th Grade Student Council Members Wear Green Day! Be Safe: Stop. Think. Act. Wear Green! Thursday, January28th

What Green Stands For: Green is one of the most important colors because of what it represents. Green represents something Hamilton Avenue School encourages. It represents Safety. Safety is very important for our school. With over 200 kids here at Ham Ave, without safety everyone would have a very unfair and unhappy experience. Everyone at Ham Ave is very capable of being safe. Green may not be your ‘favorite color’ or you don’t have anything green to wear, but you don’t have to like the color or have green clothes to understand safety. I hope you enjoy the slideshow the 5th grade student council made for you.

What Would Happen Without Safety? Imagine this: a world without safety. If there was no safety, the world would be full of chaos. Here at Hamilton Avenue school, we not only accept safety, we encourage it. Though many other schools encourage safety too, us kids are lucky that our school celebrates it. Without safety, no one would be happy, joyous, or even feel melancholy here. Everyone would be very sad and no one would ever have fun. But, luckily, we do have safety and we use it every single day. It would be bad without safety obviously, but because we have safety, don’t waste it by not using it. We’re lucky we are all safe, so just pass it on.

How Can I Be Safe? It’s easier than you think. All you have to do is help everyone be safe. Trust me, there is definitely someone who needs your help to be safe. First, at Ham Ave there is not anything unsafe, but if you see anything that isn’t safe, stop it. If you see someone being mean to someone verbally, that still isn’t safe. If you see someone doing something that is bad, just stop it. If you go on the bus and you see someone who isn’t sitting correctly, you can remind them to. If you see someone moving their chair back and forth in class, tell them to stop. Little things like that are easy to do. Also, many people say bullying is unsafe, which it is, but at Ham Ave we don’t normally have bullies. If you do see a bully you should stop it, but you don’t need to worry about bullies here.

How Can I Remind Myself To Be Safe? It is super easy to remind yourself how to be safe. A super easy way to remind yourself is to put a sticky note on your desk saying ‘Be Safe’. Another easy way to remind yourself is to tell people you want to be safe. They will remind you to be safe when you aren’t. If you want, during recess you could make be safe posters. Give them to your teacher and she might be able to hang them in your class. Then, that will remind you to be safe. BE SAFE !

How Can I Be Safe At Home? How Can I Be Safe At Home? It is always easy to be safe at home. For instance, do you have any siblings? If so, I know sometimes siblings fight, but fight the urge to. Another easy way to be safe is simple: write emergency phone-numbers and hang them on the wall. This is more for being safe during an emergency. First, call 911, but after, call those phone numbers. You could have your mom’s, your dad’s your aunt’s, your uncle’s, your grandparents’, or anyone you trust who could help you.

So, I bet you’re wondering why safety is so important, right? Well, safety is one of the most important Ham Ave norms. Also, you use safety all through your life and you have used it for many years. Likewise, safety is useful in almost every activity you’ll do. Well, now you know that safety is pretty awesome!
