Clinical Hours Guidelines  3 rd – 5th wk of ISU classes: T or W depending on semester and year; 1:15-3:00 UHS Orientation (today) (2 hours)  Observations outside content area for Targeted Observation Paper (TOR) or other class assignment (5 hours) 2/10/2016 3

Clinical Hours Guidelines  Attend school events at UHS (Open House, concerts, athletics, department meetings) or professional education meetings/conferences (5 -7 hours total) 2/10/2016 4

Clinical Hours Guidelines  Meetings and/or communication with cooperating teacher (CT) and preparation time for teaching at UHS (15 hours )  Observations or teacher assisting 5-7 class periods within assigned class prior to teaching (5-7 hours) 2/10/2016 5

Clinical Hours Guidelines  Instructional Support opportunities: grading/copying/tutoring your CT’s students or at the Learning Center/team teaching/curriculum projects/ technology projects/teacher assisting (5-7 hours)  Teaching time: at least 3 lessons consecutively (3 hours) 2/10/2016 6

Clinical Hours Guidelines  The listed hours (40-46) are the minimum requirement for your clinical experience at University High School. You are encouraged to do more to have an enriched experience.  You will also complete microteaching and possibly other clinical experiences related to your C& class. These hours will be documented as well. 2/10/2016 7

What this experience is:  This is pre-student teaching; this is not student teaching.  Get involved in the class where you will be teaching and get to know the students.  Ask for grading, offer your assistance, ask to help during independent work 2/10/2016 8

Teaching Expectations:  Be prepared to be at UHS for your lab time (TWR) for ten weeks–Your CT/mentor will inform you of the schedule  Turn in your lesson plans for approval and discussion with your CT at least one week in advance  You will teach 3 consecutive days 2/10/2016 9
