3. Supplemental Learning (SL)
SL assisted courses provide students with a trained peer mentor. The SL Leader acts as a model student in class and leads group study sessions outside of class.

4. Characteristics of Supplemental Learning
Form of peer mentoring.
Students attend SL sessions voluntarily.
Designed to assist students with both content and study skills.
SL Leaders are students who have demonstrated success in the targeted courses.

5. SL Leaders are more than just tutors!!
Leaders participate in all course lectures as a model student.
Leaders take notes and complete most assignments and tests with enrolled students.
Leaders conduct 2 SL sessions outside of class each week.
Leaders use learning theories, methods of peer mentoring, and collaborative learning to help students become independent learners.

13. What prospective SL students need to know:
SL assisted sections can be found in the class schedule search (not Atlas registration)
SL is free
SL Sessions are typically held the hour before or the hour after class, so leave this time open in your schedule
SL sessions are voluntary (for the most part)
