Team Composition  18 Competitors per team K-5  5 members may be 6 th grade if your school has 6 th grade  Grades 3-5 usually  If younger that’s OK, but reading level may be high  Varsity is the first team  Subsequent teams are JV1, JV2, etc.  Each team pays $300 fee

What does practice look like?  Parents volunteer to teach an event  Group works together on events  Session 1 Events  Session 2 Events  Session 3 Events  All together or separate but equal

Gather Supplies NOW Go through the events and list what you need Rockets: Launchers? Tubes? 2 Liter bottles Bridges: Weight thing; glue guns; pasta Books, Nature Identification Guides Goggles (make sure they are the right kind) Super Sleuths kits from NCSO Guest speakers (weather, etc) K’Nex Tshirts – Perfect for Parent JOB!! Thank you notes and candy for event helpers

Timeline  Now  Signup for Tournament  Get teams, volunteer, supplies, etc  November - February  Create practice schedule  Practice as much as you can  March  Parents:  Get organized for tournament  Baggies for each event  Thank you notes

Schedule…  March  Practice station format  Practice manners  Make sure they know their partners  Make sure they know the rules  Three weeks before tournament  Hold parent meeting for logistics  Make sure kids know their schedule  Double check and pack bags and boxes  Bring extra everything

Scoring, Trophies, etc  You must have a group in every event  If you do not do an event then your score is 20+1  Only get trophies for winning!  Varsity: 1 st,2 nd and 3 rd place  JV 1 st and 2 nd TEAM SPIRIT Award
