5 DIFL Philosophy Provide a safe and encouraging environment for children to learn and love soccer Teach the value of teamwork and good sportsmanship Help younger players learn their skill areas Help older players hone their skills Help all players learn respect—for referees, for coaches, for managers, for teammates, for opposing teams Give everyone an equal chance—no one can improve if they don’t play Balance the sense of competition with the need to learn and have fun Winning is great, but playing is everything! Even the team who comes in last should have a great time!

6 Some DIFL Basics Teams once formed will not be changed Absentees without good reason will not be tolerated. Repeat absentees may lead to dismissal from DIFL for the season. All players should be given equal opportunity to play in each game Never play an unregistered player Never borrow players from other teams The referee’s call is golden—help parents understand this in case of any question
