2 This program will serve as a transition for Mite Players eligible to play Squirts next year Introduce/re-introduce players to full ice games and the rules of hockey Teams will be as equally competitive as possible Separate from current in-house teams/practices Teams will play games in Grand Forks, as well as other regional games

3 Practices are mandatory Travel practice will begin Sunday, January 24th – Continue each Sunday after until the end of the In- house season – Then practices move to Monday and Thursday Weekend practices as game schedule and ice time allows – Travel players will still attend all scheduled in-house practices and games with their respective teams Practices will be ADM structured, ran by coaches

4 Traveling games are competitive environments – Rules of the game are enforced – icing, checking, slashing, off-sides, etc… – Faster paced game than in-house program – Full ice games Players will “change on the fly” during games – No stop time for line changes

5 Current Game Commitments: – Grand Forks Jamboree March 5-6 – Grand Forks Classic March 11-13 – Roseau Weekend March 19-20 Tentative – Possible games on other open dates against area teams throughout February

6 The locker room is an opportunity for team building – Players are encouraged to get ready with their teams Players will be dressed and ready to practice at least 10 minutes before practice time Players will be in locker room getting dressed 45 minutes before a game Parents will not be allowed in locker room prior to game, during intermission, or immediately following games – These are the coaches time with their teams

7 Players will be expected to be good listeners – In practice Compete in drills No shooting pucks after whistles Pay attention to coaches instructions Display good sportsmanship – In games All the above expectations No arguing with coaches/officials Be a good teammate

8 Mandatory Volunteer Requirements – Parents will be required to work between 2-4 shifts at the Grand Forks Classic(TBD) – This is in addition to the 6 hours required for each in-house Mite – Failure to volunteer would result in your child not be able to play in the classic or being assessed a fee of $50 per hour missed – Call the GFYHA office if you have any questions

9 All practices and games are mandatory When players are on the ice, they are being coached by the coaches – Parents will not interfere with this coaching Each Player will get to pick their top three number choices from 1-29 – Numbers will be assigned to players based on these choices – Parents will need to bring jerseys in and have the number put on by Feb. 15th practice Players should have matching socks – More information to come

10 Some games may require hotel stays – Parents will help coaches enforce curfews and swimming rules Every effort will be made for this to be a positive experience for all parents and players – This may include donating/preparing gift bags for kids prior to jamborees, potluck meals, etc… – Parents will be invited to participate in these activities A parent contact list will be provided to the members of each team

11 Coaches and managers will make every effort to make this a positive competitive environment for players If you have questions or comments for coaches, please take the time to have these conversations in private, and recognize the 24/hr rule.
