The KIDNEY –External Supportive Tissue –1). Renal Capsule –2). Adipose Capsule –3). Renal Fascia. Kidney consist of 2 major parts 1. cortex- outer part, contains numerous glumeroli - Glomeruli- surrounded by tubules - distal convoluted tubule- - proximal convoluted tubule- have lumens 2. medulla- medulla

–Nephrons : A). Structure 1). Renal Corpuscle: a). Glomerulus b). Glomerular (Bowman’s) Capsule

Renal Tubule i). Proximal Convoluted Tubule ii). Loop of Henle descending limb ascending limb iii). Distal Convoluted Tubule iv). Collecting Duct (Not part of the Nephron) receives urine from many nephrons and leads to the renal papilla.

Testis - surrounded by thick capsule tunica albuginea -contains many seminiferous tubules where sperms are formed (spermatogonia, spermatocytes, spermatids and spermatozoa) - between seminiferous tubules are the interstitial cells that secrete the male hormone

Ovary - concerned with the production of ova (eggs) - filled with many follicles varying in their sizes and different stages: - Graafian follicles: largest, contain the primary oocytes (ovum) about to ovulate - corpus luteum- forms after ovulation

Stages of follicle maturation a). Primordial follicle Only 1 layer of cells b). Primary follicle 2 or more layers of cells. c). Secondary follicle: fluid filled space d). Vesicular (Graafian) follicle: Bulges e). Corpus luteum: The ruptured follicle
