St. Andrews college presents 2015

OLIO literally means "a programme with skits, musical intervals and a backdrop " Every year, St Andrew's College hosts OLIO, The Inter-Collegiate Drama Competition. It is the only English theatre festival of its kind in Mumbai. It consists of 4 final, one–Act plays of 30 minutes from various colleges, selected after a day of eliminations. It has proven to be the perfect platform for young students to showcase their talent and move to a greater arena, be it theatrical or even event–management. A prerequisite for entry, is an original script following a given theme. While 2010 saw the audience engaged in plays with a Social message, 2011 was all about Comedy and 2012's theme read "Twisted Tales “, a selected fairy tale with an unusual perspective and an unexpected ending. 2013’s theme was a “Royal Affair” and 2014 saw the actors on stage making a “Comedy of Errors”. WHAT IS OLIO ?

Celebrities like Freida Pinto (Winner of Best actress award) and Anand Tiwari have participated in our competition Performing on the Andrew's Auditorium stage with its fabulous acoustics and lighting is an exhilarating experience in itself; or that's what the young and fresh actors always say. OLIO is the only inter collegiate drama festival in Mumbai. WHAT MAKES OLIO GREAT ?

If you are a budding script writer, a techie adept with stage lights and sound, an exacting director or an actor from any college, who loves to play to the galley, here's your chance ! Great sponsors help with encouraging talent with prizes in store for everything. The prizes range from the Best play and Runners up, to Best Director, Actors, Set Design and Lighting and one for the entertaining spontaneous ‘Fillers’. Spot prizes are giving to the audience too. The event is proceeded by an Elimination Round a fortnight earlier, followed by a Technical Rehearsal to brief them up on what goes on in a high tech auditorium like St Andrew’s, fine tune their Lighting and Sound and a preliminary practise for the final day.

OLIO THIS YEAR This is our 15 th year of OLIO The theme for this year is “Unravelling Mysteries”. We wanted to venture out into this theme so that OLIO always maintains and develops its quality and interest. Mystery is a theme that OLIO has not tried out yet. Our committee consists of individuals who have experience inside and outside of OLIO who are both able and hard working.
