1. Showcasing the amazing talent of today’s young people 12 th -16 th July 2010

Shine is a national festival celebrating the talents of all young people between 12th and 16th July 2010 through national events and locally organized activities around a million young people took part last year. By showcasing their talents through Shine young people are able to receive wide spread and very positive national and regional media coverage. Sign up on the Shine website and access your own organization page on the Shine website where you can upload film, sound, word and pictures and keep your own blog giving journalists a place to go to find examples of young people’s talents. You will also be sent an Event Pack which includes a range of posters, stickers and certificates to use during Shine Week and a Media Pack to help you gain publicity and show how your organization and young people shine! So could you upload examples of your talents or plan an event in either realspace or cyperspace to showcase your talents during Shine 2010?

UK Youth Voice & Shine 2010 Building on the success of Shine Week a schools based initiative last year, young people are taking Shine beyond the school gates to become a national youth celebration. UK Youth Voice could join the Shine initiative as an organization and …receive a free event pack containing posters, certificates and stickers...access to your own page where you can upload films, pictures, sound, word and much more...you can download a free Media Pack to help you get publicity for all your Shine Week events or activities

4. How can UK Youth Voice benefit from joining Shine 09? Shine celebrates all that is good in young people: all their talents and achievements – everything they are proud of. As members of UK Youth Voice we are proud of you and feel you are talented young people with plenty of talents that should be celebrated. Shine 2010 is one of the ways UK Youth would like you to gain recognition for your talents. Too often young people are in the spotlight for negative reasons – even though only a minority cause trouble. Shine is a chance to take time out and Shine a light on the positive contribution that so many young people make. Everything you are doing as part of UK Youth Voice and no doubt in so many other ways through your activities, volunteering, at your college or uni or in your jobs. Everyone of you has a spark, something to offer – every child and young person matters! There are many forms of talent and creativity, many kinds of achievement – and we need them all. Recognising that is important to young people individually and to all of us: it’s our future.

5. So Please Help UK Youth as part of the Youth Week Consortium celebrate young people’s talents through Shine 2010 Join Shine 2010 help get the positive activities you are involved in the recognition they deserve. Promote Shine 2010 through your contacts and try and get other young people you know to join in and get their talents recognised to.
