Taming of the Shrew Project Requirements

Script  Language, themes, and overall mood of scene is modernized to time period  Slang words are used frequently throughout the script. Slang words are bolded within the script.  Contains a title page that has movie title, group members names, who they are playing in the movie, and character they correspond to in the play.  Contains stage directions for every change in scene location. These are italicized  Times New Roman 12pt font

Movie  Minimum of 5 minutes without bloopers or outtakes.  Every group member is featured in the movie for a consistent period of time.  Every group member is prepared with their lines (not reading from a piece of paper)  Costumes, props, settings are used to effectively create the appropriate time period.  Follows the script

Linguist  Dictionary Minimum of 100 slang words from YOUR TIME PERIOD Terms are numbered Times New Roman 12pt font Works cited page stating where you received definitions.  Soundtrack Lyrics from 5 different songs that reflect the time period, theme, and storyline of movie After each lyric there is a paragraph explaining why you chose this song and where you would put it in the movie.

Artistic Designer  Character Sketches For each main character in the movie there is a picture of what they would look like in the Elizabethan era and your time period. After each set of sketches there is a paragraph explaining why you dressed your character the way you did for YOUR TIME PERIOD. Sketches reflect adequate time spent and uses color, and detail.

Artistic Designer  Scene Sketches Every scene in your movie has a sketch The sketch will reflect what the setting would look like in your time period, NOT NECESSARILY HOW IT LOOKS IN THE MOVIE. Sketches have color and detail that shows an adequate amount of time was spent on them.

Artistic Designer  Movie Poster Must be at least 11X17 Contains title of the movie, movie tagline or slogan, and illustrations depicting what the movie is about Poster contains color and reflects an adequate degree of time and effort.

Historian  Five-paragraph research paper comparing and contrasting the political, social, and economical factors present in BOTH the Elizabethan era and your time period.  Time News Roman 12 point font  Contains a minimum of 3 sources  At least two quotes are cited within each body paragraph from your sources.

Director  Five-paragraph research paper comparing and contrasting the roles of men and women in the Elizabethan era and your time period.  Times New Roman 12 point font  Contains a minimum of 3 sources  At least two quotes are cited within each body paragraph from your sources.

Parenthetical Citations  Always introduce the quote giving your own commentary.  State the quote from your source.  Explain it in your own words.  An entire paragraph should not be completed cited from a source.  The parenthetical citation contains author or website name and page number. Whichever is listed first on your works cited is listed in the parenthetical citation.

Parenthetical Citations  During the Elizabethan era, women were usually inferior to men. Women during this time period were educated but only to a certain level, depending on social status. The women of noble status were given an education because “the noble men did not want their daughters to look naïve compared to the highly intelligent queen” (Elizabethan Women 1).
