Traditional Islam Overview  Islam is the second largest and fastest spreading religion in the world  Muslims believe in one God- known as Allah- who gave his final revelation through the prophet Muhammad in the form of the Qur’an  Contains five pillars of Islam: Shahada- creed Daily prayers Fasting during Ramadan Almsgiving Pilgrimage to Mecca

Nation of Islam  The Nation of Islam is similar to traditional Islam in many ways except for these differences: NOI teaches Allah was incarnated in the form of W.D. Fard / Traditional Islam teaches that it’s blasphemous to believe that Allah would take human form NOI teaches that the black race is superior to all others / Traditional Islam teaches that all races are equal regardless of skin color Elijah Muhammad seen by the NOI as a Messenger from God / Traditional Islam teaches that the prophet Muhammad is the very last messenger from God
