 Born in Cleveland, OH, May 11, 1925  Graduated with a chemical engineering degree  Masters in clinical psychology  Wrote several books including: The Reality Theory and Choice Theory  Received many awards throughout career  In 1967, he founded The Institute for Reality Therapy which was renamed in 1996 The William Glasser Institute.

 “The Glasser Theory calls for teachers to instruct students on how to make good choices and take responsibility for their behavior.”

Teachers should:  Establish involvement and trust with students  Create safe and welcoming atmosphere  Establish rules  Set consequences  Follow through

Students should:  Accept responsibility  Evaluate behavior  Plan of Action with the teacher  Commit
