Haim’s Belief “There is no such thing as an unacceptable child, only unacceptable behaviors.”

Haim encouraged parents and teachers to set clear boundaries for behaviors. Haim also encouraged parents and teachers to avoid personal identification when addressing students.

To make a positive impact 1. The teacher must model communication that is congruent with student’s emotions and surroundings. 2. Include cooperative learning. 3. Use discipline in place of punishment.

Implementation of Theories Ginott’s theories may be more applicable to secondary classrooms than elementary classrooms because students are more able to respond and contribute. Ginott’s theory can be introduced easily in any existing classroom.

What Most Teachers Say They try to be accepting and respectful of their students. They try to minimize distractions and when they have to discipline, they try to keep their class running smoothly. They also, do not alienate a difficult student.
