Department of Psychology: Changes for 2016 Continued provision of professionally accredited BA and BSc programmes in Psychology, incorporating a revised curriculum. New provision of “Psychological Studies” as a joint major subject in the Joint Honours Arts BA programme. Increased flexibility and student choice, and the opportunity to allow an increased number of students to take modules relating to the study of human mental life and behaviour.

Changes for 2016: BA Psychology (MH106) Denominated entry In first year Psychology is studied with two other Arts subjects or one Arts subject and a critical skills module. In second and third year, psychology is a single honours subject. Chance to take an elective stream in second year. Chance to study abroad and gain a BA (International) during an additional year. Professionally accredited degree.

Changes for 2016: BSc Psychology (MH209) Denominated entry. Revised scheme with new opportunities for experiential learning and internationalisation. In first year psychology is studied along with maths and one other subject/critical skills. In second, third and fourth year psychology is a single honours subject (with the option of taking an elective stream in second year). Third year is devoted to a research internship for one semester and either experiential learning in a workplace or study abroad for the other semester. Professionally accredited degree.

Changes for 2016: Psychological Studies (MH101) A new offering in the Joint Honours Arts BA programme. Students can take Psychological Studies as one of their four first Arts subjects. Pending satisfactory progression, students may then take psychological studies as a joint major subject in second and third year. This allows students much greater flexibility in their ability to combine the study of behaviour and mental life alongside other subjects, such as Business, Sociology, Anthropology or Computer Science.

Changes for 2016: Psychological Studies (MH101) Psychological studies will not lead to a professionally accredited qualification. Rather, it allows the student the maximum flexibility in their study and introduces them to core concepts in behavioural science. Graduates with a joint major in Psychological Studies will be eligible for further post-graduate study to gain a professionally accredited degree (HDip/MSc).
