Entry Task: Pick up a copy of the cold essay prompts Take 5 minutes to read the prompts. Pick 2 prompts that will work with your novel. Discuss your choices with your elbow partner. (5 minutes) Group discussion (10 minutes) Small novel group discussion (20 minutes)

Analysis of Theme The Kite Runner contains several important themes. Explain one of the themes that appears in the book and use specific examples from the book to support your statements. Make sure your paragraph includes a strong topic sentence, analysis of the topic, and support from the book. Since you are writing about literature, please write in present tense.
