Annelies Marie Frank was born on June 12, 1929 in Frankfurt, Germany. She was the second daughter of Otto Frank and Edith Frank- Holländer. Her family was Jewish and German. The Frank and Holländer families have lived in Germany for centuries. Her family had to quit Germany when the nazis arrived to the power. Her family were hidden for about two years until they were betrayed.

Anna Frank started to write her diary when she was thirteen- year-old. She called her diary kitty Miep Gies, one of the familys helpers,saved the diary during the war. It was first published in Her diary has been translated into 67 languages. It is one of the most widely read books in the world.

Second World War started when Hitler invaded Poland in England and France declared the war to Hitler. Hitler broke his pact with Russia. Japan, attacked Pearl Harbour. Italy broke its pact with Germany. USA threw the A-bomb upon Japan. In 1945 the aliance defeated Germany.

Nazis were Hitlers followers. There was a secret police called SS. The Nazis built many concentration camps. In concentration camps the Nazis killed many Jews. Anna Frank was a prisoner in Bergen-Belsen.
