2.  Miep Gies was born in Vienna, Austria, in 1909. Her parents gave her the name Hermine Santrouschitz.  In 1920, suffering from malnutrition and poor health, Miep was collected by a group of Dutch families who helped children  She was adopted by a couple who already had five children. After five years, Miep 's family decided it would be best for her to stay in Amsterdam. since she had been born there.

3.  Miep married her boyfriend Jan Gies in 1941 and became a Dutch citizen

4.  In 1933 she worked with Otto Frank when the Frank family hid in the attic of an old building.  Miep was in charge of collecting their list of missing things, get those things Otto asked her for and take them their lunch and dinner.

5.  On August 4th, 1944, the Annex was found and all its occupants arrested by the Occupation Forces. Gies and her husband should have been shot for hiding Jews. Miep tried in vain to bribe the SS officer..

6.  Miep stored in a drawer of her desk Anne Frank´s personal diary. Deported to concentration camps, Anne Frank died with her sister in Bergen- Belsen one month before the war ended. All occupants of the Annex died, only Otto Frank survived.  Miep Gies who delivered the Diary of Anne Frank, had ever read it before. She could have destroyed it because Anne appointed all those involved in the operation.

7. Miep saved Anne´s diary In the summer of 1945, when Otto Frank found out that Margot and Anne had died in the Bergen- Belsen concentration camp, Miep gave him Anne´s diary.
