2 Biography Annelies Marie Frank, better known as Anne Frank was a German Jewish teenager, who died at the age of fifteen in a concentration camp. She became world famous with the posthumous publication of her diary, which she wrote on the experiences of the period in which her family hid from the persecution of the Jews in the Netherlands. Though born in the German city of Frankfurt am Main, Anne spent most of his life in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. His family moved there in 1933, year of the Nazi rise to power. With the outbreak of World War II, the Dutch territory was occupied and the policy of persecution of the Reich was extended to the resident Jewish population in the country. Anne's family went into hiding in July 1942, sheltering in secret room in a commercial building. During the period called the "secret annex", Anne wrote in her diary intimacies and also the daily lives of people around you. And there he remained for two years until, in 1944, an unknown whistleblower revealed the hideout to Nazi authorities. The group was then taken to concentration camps. Anne Frank and her sister Margot were transferred to Auscwitz to camp at Bergen-Belsen, where they died of typhus in March 1945. Otto Frank, Anne's father and only survivor of the family, returned to Amsterdam after the war and had access to the diary of his daughter. His efforts led to the publication of the material in 1947.
