What is Twitter?  Twitter is a service that allows you to communicate with friends via the Internet. Instead of sending multiple texts or numerous posts from MySpace or Facebook, you could send one message and Twitter will send it to all of your friends.  To send these messages (a.k.a “tweets”) you create a free account with twitter and type your message in the post tweet box. Tweets allow you to post messages of up to 140 characters for cell phones.  Tweets can only be posted with text. You cannot post a tweet with a picture, video, or audio clip. If you do not want to receive tweets from a specific user you con toggle whether you’d like to accept those tweets or not.

How does Twitter Work?  On your cell phone: When you text your Twitter post from your phone it uses a short message service (SMS). This protocol allows you to send and receive texts, from and to websites, voic s, and servers.  After this is done the message is transmitted into a mobile switching center (MSC).  The signal is then sent to a short message service center (SMSC) and is then sent to Twitter. The same process is used when Twitter sends the message back out to your friends.

How does Twitter Help Mankind?  Twitter helps mankind by allowing them to communicate with friends and family. On this one website you can read the latest posts of your close ones.  It also helps with business. Your business partner can post a tweet and you’d be able to read it and respond accordingly. Many businesses communicate with Twitter in different cities, states, and even countries.  Twitter allows the user to access any information sent by his/her friends almost immediately after sent to Twitter.
