Creating a Life to Match YOUR Dreams!

When was the last time you asked yourself… what do you want? WHY do you want it???? How will having it change your life?

Creating health is a journey, not a destination How do you start your journey?

It starts with finding your WHY……

Deep intrinsic motivation that drives you forward What you want, desire Not what you need to do, should do or some one tells you to do

Next…….. Set YOUR goals……..YOUR destination!

How do you know where you are going if you don’t have a destination??

Now…How do you want to travel to that destination??

Or like this??

Envision your goal, no matter what what that goal is Reaching a healthy weight Walk a 5K by November 1 st A goal is something you want to CREATE, not something you want to eliminate “I want to be 125 pounds by 3/1/14 vs. “I don’t want to be fat anymore”

S- pecific - Specify your goal, and be clear M- easureable - Goal is easy to measure A- chievable - Set a reasonable goal. If you are feeling overwhelmed by your goal you probably won’t stick to it! R- ealistic - Don’t put too much pressure on yourself! T- ime oriented - Set a time for accomplishing your goal, be specific!

Writing your goals down is the most important step in goal setting! Write down each goal you want to reach, and remember, it’s your choice based on YOUR desire for optimal health. Post you so see your goals daily!

Goals are the key to keeping you on track as you perform the actions needed to reach them. They’ll guide all your choices, because they support what YOU really want in your life. To review how to set your goals see Dr. A’s Habits of Health and Living a Longer Healthier Life; Lesson 5-7.

If you ever rode a bicycle up a hill and a small rock got in your path, you likely told yourself mentally “I am going to miss that rock”. But it doesn’t matter what you told yourself, if your eyes were locked on the rock you probably ran over the rock. In other words, you went where you were focused. This truth applies to work, home and every aspect of your life!

Imagine yourself 5 years from now, and make a list of things you would like to have, don’t be afraid to dream big!! It is also important to write down WHY you want this. Now, write a 1, 3 or 5 next to each one. These represent the number of years to achieve these. Now go to the 1 year goals and circle the 5 goals that energize you the most. Very important, you must write out WHY each of these 5 goals are important to you.

Also write down HOW you will get there. If your goal is to lose 50 pounds, write down your WHY (to be healthy for my grandkids) and HOW you will get there (follow the 5&1 plan, keep in touch with my coach and read the Habits of Health). It is important to navigate your “WHY’S” and “HOW’S”!

Always keep an eye on your reason WHY Your WHY will carry you through on your journey to optimal health! When your reason why is strong and important enough there is no reason to deviate from the program. Always keep an eye on the future not dwelling on the past. Remember the race car!!!

"Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen." (Ralph Waldo Emerson)
