Safe Harbour: Respect for All A provincial diversity program

Goal & Objectives The goal of the Safe Harbour: Respect for All program is to work together to create welcoming and inclusive workplaces and communities. Objectives of the workshop: To examine assumptions bias, privilege and stereotypes To explore issues of exclusion / inclusion To identify steps that we can take a stand against discrimination and assist someone in need of a temporary refuge from harassment or who is in distress To provide tips for creating a welcoming workplace environment

Dimensions of Diversity Safe Harbour: Respect for All Respect for All Cultures / Ethnicities Respect for All Abilities Respect for All Sexual Orientations Respect for All Faiths / Religions Respect for All Ages Respect for All Socioeconomic Backgrounds Respect for All Genders Respect for All Appearances

Safe Harbour-certified Locations sign on to:  Equitable Treatment for All Welcoming all clients and/or customers in a respectful manner. If a concern is expressed regarding a lack of respectful treatment, employers and staff take steps to address it.  An Immediate Safe Place Providing an immediate safe place for someone experiencing discrimination in or near the worksite which may include a place to sit, a glass of water, a phone to use, and access to a list of resources.  Prepared Employees and Worksites Preparing all managers and staff to implement these commitments.
