Class – Osteichthyes Order-TetraodontiformesFamily-Diodontidae

 FUN FACTS!!!!!!!  Porcupine fish eat snails, crabs and sea urchins.  They have a toxic skin substance which are usually considered poisonous.  They are introverted creatures.  This psychedelic fish is not enlisted as endangered.

 Info  It gets its name from the long spines all over it’s body  On some pacific islands the dried skins were used for war helmets  They are not normally caught for human consumption  The teeth are fused together into a single unit creating a strong, beak-like mouth

 Info Cont.  Porcupine fish are nocturnal predators.  It puffs up by drawing in air or water and does this to protect itself from predators.  It inflates up to 2 or 3 times its normal size  They are about inches long, although some species can grow up to 36 inches  They live in warm waters of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans
