Five Historic Tribes Map

Five Historic Tribes Of Utah… Utah has five historic tribes that lived all over Utah. Remember, historic means these groups had some form of written history.

Five Historic Tribes Map The map we are going to create in class shows the general regions these people lived.

Starting a MAP First, give your map a title. Every good map has a title which indicates the subject matter the map is showing. You should label your map with the following title:

FIVE HISTORIC TRIBES This title tells the viewer what type of information the map is going to be showing.

Starting a MAP After giving the map an appropriate title, you need to create a space for a clearly labeled LEGEND. (Remember, a legend is the key to the map which shows you what the colors and symbols on the map represent. )

Five Historic Tribes LEGEND A legend is the key to the map. Put all colors and symbols in here.

Choose a color you want to use to represent the first tribe PAIUTE. Make a space for it in your legend. To outline the PAIUTE region, FIRST find the middle of the Southern border of the state and make a dot or a line. FIVE HISTORIC TRIBES LEGEND PAIUTE

SECOND, put four fingers along the western border, starting in the southwest corner. Make a dot or a line where your fingers end FIVE HISTORIC TRIBES LEGEND PAIUTE

FIVE HISTORIC TRIBES NOW, connect the two dots with a kind of “ M ” shape. It doesn ’ t have to be exactly like mine, but it should be close. LEGEND PAIUTE

FIVE HISTORIC TRIBES Choose a color you want to use to represent the GOSHUTE. Make a space for it in your legend. Find the southernmost point of the Great Salt Lake. Make a DOT. LEGEND PAIUTE GOSHUTE

FIVE HISTORIC TRIBES Find the little “ ear-lobe shaped ” area on the western side of the Great Salt Lake.Make a dot. LEGEND PAIUTE GOSHUTE

FIVE HISTORIC TRIBES Measure two fingers wide at the top of the Paiute Region. Make a dot. LEGEND PAIUTE GOSHUTE

LEGEND Paiute Goshute Shoshone Choose a color you want to use to represent the SHOSHONE.

FIVE HISTORIC TRIBES LEGEND Paiute Goshute Shoshone The easiest way to draw in SHOSHONE is to shade everything north of the southernmost tip of the Great Salt Lake

Choose a color you want to use to represent NAVAJO. FIVE HISTORIC TRIBES LEGEND Paiute Goshute Shoshone Navajo

To draw the NAVAJO region, fill in the space one finger width thick making an “ M ” shape. FIVE HISTORIC TRIBES LEGEND Paiute Goshute Shoshone Navajo
