Draw a colored symbol for desert and
label it “desert.”
Draw the outlined shape of Ghana with
the color shown in the legend.
Name, date, period
Draw a colored symbol for river and
label it “river.”
Draw a horizontal solid line along the
fold of the paper (where you folded it in
half). Label it “Equator” with

it “Mali.” (The color should not be the
same as used for Ghana.)
(4 pts) Using a textbook map and the
four reference lines above, draw the
outline of the African continent.
Draw one colored gold symbol. (Use p. 147 to
find the correct location.) Draw a travel symbol
(the one from your legend) from the gold symbol
to Timbuktu.
Draw on rectangle around all of
the items.

Draw a compass.
D. Physical Features
Write “Gulf of Guinea” is the correct
location on your map.

Write “Not to Scale” next to the
compass.
Draw a river symbol on your map that
accurately shows the position of the
Niger River, and label the symbol “Niger.”
