I am creative and compassionate. I wonder why we all can’t stay young at heart. I hear rhythms in the ocean’s waves. I see beauty in the possibilities.

Presentation transcript:

I am creative and compassionate. I wonder why we all can’t stay young at heart. I hear rhythms in the ocean’s waves. I see beauty in the possibilities of children. I want an end to unnecessary pain. I am creative and compassionate. I pretend to know how to help those who need me. I feel the energy of a good idea. I touch the guiding hand of my late uncle. I worry that I am not completing something I need to do. I am creative and compassionate. I understand how much more I need to learn. I say you reap what you sow. I dream of ultimate happiness and inner peace. I try to help when I am needed. I hope my children learn well from my example. I am creative and compassionate. --Mr. Shtino

Write an “I am” Poem TODAY: Write your answers to the prompts on the next slide to create a poem about who you are. FOR HOMEWORK: TYPE up your poem. CENTER IT with point font, PRINT IT out and bring it in to class. Make sure you type your name after the poem! Tomorrow IN CLASS: Create a visual SYMBOL (see example) -- SOMETHING WITH AT LEAST TWO VISUAL CLUES THAT YOU CAN RELATE TO YOUR PERSONALITY OR LIFE -- to display with your poem. This should be flat and something that has meaning to your life. You may bring in supplies, but some, like the sample will be made available in class. GRADED ON DEPTH OF EFFORT AND CREATIVITY!!

I am (two special characteristics) I wonder (something you are actually curious about) I hear (an imaginary sound) I see (an imaginary sight) I want (an actual desire) I am (the first line of the poem restated) I pretend (something you pretend to do) I feel (a feeling about something imaginary) I touch (an imaginary touch) I worry (something that really bothers you) I cry (something that makes you very sad) I am (the first line of the poem repeated) I understand (something you know is true) I say (something you believe in) I dream (something you actually dream about) I try (something you make an effort to do) I hope (something you actually hope for) I am (the first line of the poem repeated)
