Air and Weather

What is in the air?

Meteorology Study of Weather

Properties of Weather Humidity Air Temperature Air Pressure Precipitation Measure of water vapor in air How hot or cold air is Force of air pushing on an area ANY form of water that falls from clouds

Air Anemometers are used to measures the movement of air. (AKA: Wind)

What is air pressure? Does air pressure have anything to do with temperature?

How do we measure air pressure? A Barometer

Precipitation We use RADAR and RAIN GAUGES to monitor and measure precipitation.

Humidity We use a HYGROMETER to measure the amount of humidity in the air.

Air Temperature We use a THERMOMETER to measure air temperature.

We measure the properties of weather to predict the weather.
