Title: How To Prevent Bullying Title: How To Prevent Bullying  Description: Preventive measures for students to take while witnessing or knowing bout students being bullied.  Grade Level: 6-8  Curriculum: Life Skills / Careers  Keywords: influence, victims, taunting,bully.etc 

Introduction  Students will describe the effects of bullying, gain experiences in drawing conclusions and summarizing concepts and participate in group activities to solve problems concerning bullying.

Task Separate in the same five groups. They are to tell 3 ways that witnesses can help the bully. One person from the group gets a consensus from the group to present to the class. Assessment (Evaluation of the Day’s Objectives/Assessing Students’ Learning) Students will answer the following questions: 1. How can we learn to accept other’s differences? 2. What are some positive ways young people can communicate with each other? 3. Student will type a summary in Microsoft Word describing their experiences about the lesson.

The students will do the following: Process The students will do the following: Talk about what it means to be a bully. Define the following terms: bullying, victim, taunting, ridicule, intimidate, and influence. Discuss terms. Complete a survey on bullying and violence.  Students will be divided into 5 discussion groups. Each group will have 5 ways listed by Paul Langan that aid victims in feeling better about themselves.  Students will give their surveys to five other people. Names are not on the surveys. Students will compile their survey answers on one spreadsheet to see how they can review the results. Students will share all ideas from each group and get a consensus of how to protect you from a bully.

Evaluation After collaborating with group members students will rate the objective discussed by using the following rubric and circling one of the categories listed below. Not likely Somewhat Willing to Use Beneficial and Likely Will Use Very Beneficial and Will Use

Conclusion After completing this Quest students will be able to use preventive measures with the issues of bullying. They will also be able to assist students that are being bullied .
