Chapter different cell types 4 basic different shapes to those cells Your textbook lists 7 different “cell specialists. Know those 7 sections and the cell(s) that book gives as an example Your entire body is made of different types of cells.

5 Stages Know the stage and what is going on during that stage 1. Interphase- when the cell grows and carriers on its normal business. 2. Prophase -Cell division begins and chromosomes appear and form into Chromatids 3. Metaphase The chromatids cluster and become aligned at the center of the cell 4. Anaphase -The chromatids split and are pulled towards the opposite ends of the cell 5. Telophase -The cells have split and are now two separate but identical cells

Know the terms: Define Gene- A DNA segment that carriers the blueprint for protein Synthesis or polypeptide chain. (A/T & C/G) Define Transfer RNA (tRNA)- collects the amino acids laying around the cell and brings them to the ribosomes Define Ribosomal RNA (rRNA)- A major part of the ribosome where protein synthesis will take place Define Messenger RNA (mRNA)- The RNA that copies a segment of the DNA and that goes into the Ribosome. Define Transcription- transfer of information from the DNA’s base sequence into the mRNA. - Triplet -the 3 base DNA sequence specifying a particular amino acid of the transcription. - Codons -the 3 base RNA sequence that is created from the Triplet and creates the protein.
