Jeremy Turner Recognized by: Kadijah White

Life Style Jeremy was born in England but remained in Australia for the majority of his life. Attended school in Sydney, Australia… University of Sydney and University of new south Wales. Jeremy Turners work doesn’t appear in any well known publishers, he’s more of a word of the mouth. However he has a 7 page spread plus the over of Smart Photography in May of ’06. Turner’s work mainly consists of Landscape and Nature, Black and White.-Landscape photography is a small piece of imagery that features very small or no people or animals. Nature consists of plants and animals in their environments. Turner’s main influences were inspired by Ansel Adams and the Westons and Australian and New Zealand photographers like Peter Lik and Nic Bishop. More importantly his love for the earth.

Upper Routeburn, Mt Aspiring National Park, New Zealand

Waterfall Lighting: There was natural lighting but the photo was turned black and white so artificial took place. Angle: The picture was taken frontward, the horizon in the distance. Composition: The main thing that appealed to me was the texture, the rocks had their own piece to the puzzle and it caught my attention. Subject: To it seems the rocks are the main focus and how they make the water look. Turner took the picture so close he obviously wanted the viewer to notice the certain patter of the rocks and water. The Point: I think Turner is saying that even though there’s a beautiful waterfall surrounding all of the rocks, the rocks are just as pretty. I like this picture because of the point, waterfalls aren't just about the water and it’s in black and white

Cloud reflection, Marahau, South Island, New Zealand

Clouded Lighting: This picture is all natural. Angle: The shot was taken at slight downward front angle, so he could get the reflection in. Subject: The water reflection is the main subject, Turner really wanted in the shot, it’s double interesting because of that. The point: The horizon totally makes a huge difference, it cuts the picture in half, showing the pretty sky and showing the oddly formed puddle. Story: Honestly I think he was just showing the clouds off, I don’t really see a story unless it’s how the puddle was formed! Why: I liked how the ugly puddle has such a clear reflection even though it’s mucky.

Pre- dawn, Tallow Beach, Bouddi National Park, NSW

Dawn Mist Lighting: All natural. Angle: Looks as if to the right, to get a far off looking shot. Subject: I’m thinking it’s the mist over the water or colors of the horizon, because of the angle. The point: I think the rocks are the leading lines to the pretty horizon….the pattern of them is eye-catching, it just guides your eyes to everything. Story: It’s all about the rocks again, how’d they get, how are they that shape? Why: The story is was brought me to it, everything just goes with one another.

Bees on wildflowers, Marramarra National Park, Australia

Busy Bees Lighting: All natural. Angle: Well the shot is straight but the flowers are angled. Subject: The bee in the front is the main focus, because Turner did selective focus on that one bee. The Point: The selective focus really caught my attention, I had to double glance to really see what was in it. Story: It’s the life of a be…that should be the story. Why: This picture was the most interest picture of flowers is all.

Dune footsteps, Myall Lakes National Park, Australia

Walk to Remember Lighting: Natural with artificial coloring. Angle: Seems from the left because the dune is on the right. Subject: Most definitely the tracks, the shots just big enough to get where the tracks are headed. The Point: Leading lines of feet. The main picture is the dunes but the feet show more appeal. Story: Where did the feet come from? Why are they there, its all about the feet. Why: This picture is like the one in my loving grandmas home….good memories.

Skyscape Sydney, Australia

Striking Lighting: All natural. Angle: Most definitely up. Subject: The streak of lightning, the shot is exactly in between the two clouds. The Point: The lighting definitely plays a part in this picture. Story: The whole fascination of electricity and clouds, it all makes your train of thought extend. Why: The picture speaks for itself.
