+ Content Area: Social Studies Grade Level: K Summary: The purpose of this instructional PowerPoint is to highlight Tennessee’s state symbols and America’s national symbols in a way that is both educational and interactive. Learning objective: At the end of this lesson, students will be able to name and identify the state of Tennessee’s symbols and also national symbols with 100% accuracy. TN Common core standard: K.16 Identify the following state and national symbols: -The American flag and its colors and shapes - The Tennessee flag and its colors and shapes - The words of the Pledge of Allegiance - The Tennessee state flower (Iris) and bird (Mockingbird) - The national symbols of the bald eagle, Statue of Liberty, and the White House
