Annual Family Partnership Planning Meeting October 26, 2015

Welcome Introductions Health Smart Goals – Title 1 – Parent Involvement Plan – Parent Involvement Guide – Parent-School Compact – Academic Curriculum – Parent Information Nights (Blue Wave Info Sessions)

What is Title 1?  Title 1 (No Child Left Behind, The Elementary and Secondary Education Act): – provides federal funding to schools to help students who are low achieving or at most risk to falling behind. – is allocated to schools based on the percentage of students receiving free/reduced lunch PKY is a targeted assistance program focusing on providing targeted assistance to students and families

Parent Right to Know Section 1111(h)(6)(A-C) Parent may request and school will provide the following information: – Whether the teacher has met state qualifications for the grade level and subject areas for which the teacher provides instruction – Degree major of the teacher and any other graduate certification or degree held by the teacher and the field of discipline of the certification or degree – Whether the child is provided services by paraprofessionals and if so their qualifications

Parent Right to Know Schools are required to provide each parent: – information on the level of achievement the child has made on all state assessments – timely notice that the child has been assigned or taught for 4 or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who is not highly qualified All notices and information provided to parents shall be in an understandable and uniform format and the extend practicable, provided in a language that parents can understand
