3 Overview Title I is the largest federally funded program for schools.
It provides funding for high poverty schools to help students who are behind academically or who are at risk of falling behind in our State’s academic content and performance standards. Schools qualify for Title I funds based on economic needs (free and reduced lunch). The Title I program supports a variety of services based on school need including but not limited to: additional teachers, instructional materials, technology, additional training for staff, parental involvment program support, etc.

4 Parents in Title I schools have the right to:
Be a part of developing a written parent involvement policy. Be involved in the planning and implementation of the parent involvement program in their school. Receive materials and training to foster greater parent involvement. Jointly develop, with school staff, a school-parent compact. Know the qualifications of their child’s teacher and teacher assistant, and to also know if their child is being taught by someone who is not ‘highly qualified’ who will be in that position for 4 or more weeks.

5 Our Parent Involvement Plan includes…
Annual Title I meeting for parents. Flexibly scheduled parent meetings. Two official parent teacher conference and any others requested by teachers and/or parents. Ongoing parent communication (agendas/Tuesday folders/ s/phone calls/Connet Ed Calls) School-parent compact outlining the shared responsibility of student learning. Exit Ticket/Surveys concerning parent involvement activities. Activities designed to encourage parent involvement. Parenting partners meetings. Send suggestions to

Keep an open line of communication with the families of students Provide help when it is needed or requested Keep my class focused on LEARNING, with reading and math as top priorities Guide my students toward appropriate and quality reading materials. Allow time for reading and test taking of Accelerated Reader books Provide real-life math problems for practice of basic math concepts Administrator Maintain a safe and nurturing learning environment for our students. Communicate to students, families, and teachers the school’s mission and goals. Lead the school’s instruction by supporting and monitoring the learning process in all classes. Keep the school’s focus on LEARNING, making reading and math top priorities.

13 School Improvement Goals
Swift Creek Elementary School will increase growth and proficiency by 5 percentage points in reading (52.7% to 57.7%). Swift Creek Elementary School will increase growth and proficiency by 5 percentage points in math (60% to 65%) and science (79.1% to 84.1%). Swift Creek Elementary School will increase the number of staff with fewer than 10 days absent from 59% to 64% and the number of students from 39% to 44%. Swift Creek Elementary School will increase the teacher retention rate from 70% to 80%.
