Hickory House Nursing Home By: Mercedes Shelcusky

About Hickory House Hickory House offers a high quality of nursing services. Our licensed nursing staff offers 24 hour skilled nursing care. Hickory House offers sub-acute care for residents who need specialized medical services. These services include medical rehabilitation, infusion therapy, oxygen therapy, wound care, and oncology/hospice post-surgical care. The staff provides close medical supervision, which may include assistance with dressing, bathing, walking, eating, and the administration of medications. By working closely with the resident and his or her family, the staff develops an individualized care plan for each resident. Rehabilitation is often a critical component of a resident's care plan. A skilled team of physical, occupational, and speech therapists evaluates the rehabilitation needs of each resident and designs an outcome-oriented treatment program. As part of their treatment, a therapeutic courtyard is utilized to teach residents how to walk on a variety of surfaces/steps and ramps in preparation for community living.

Continued Hickory House offers a comfortable and secure environment suitable for the care of residents with Alzheimer's disease and dementia-related disorders. Respite or short term care is provided for individuals who need assistance while their primary caregiver is on vacation or temporarily unable to provide homecare. Residents are encouraged to participate in a wide range of activities planned by a professional activity director. All diets are by physician's orders and are supervised by a registered dietitian. Hickory House is managed by Life Care Centers of America

Mission Life Care Centers of America is committed to being a premier provider of long-term health care. It is our desire to be the facility of choice in any community in which we operate. Our programs, service and facilities must be designed and operated with superior quality in order to satisfy the needs of our customers.

What I learned You need patience and compassion to work with the elderly. The elderly need adequate time to rest between exercises. Always smile! Your attitude affects them!
