2 Health Care Facilities Health care is the largest and fastest growing industry in the US, according to government stats. over 200 health careers 2 billion dollar per day business

4 Long-term Care Facilities provide assistance and care for elderly patients (residents), people with disabilities, and people with chronic or long-term illness some called nursing homes: provide care when patients can no longer care for selves. some called extended care facilities: nursing and rehab care to prepare patients to return home or to other facilities. some called independent living/assisted living: provide assistance to patients who can care for themselves. Discussion Question: The need for LTCs have increased-WHY?

5 Medical Offices can be privately owned by one, or large and like a corporation with many doctors and health care professionals. can provide diagnostic care, exams, lab testing, minor surgery, etc. can treat wide variety of conditions and age groups, or specialize.

6 Dental Offices can be privately owned by 1 or more general care for all ages, or specialized care for certain ages or certain conditions.

7 Clinics some are a group of doctors who share a facility some are operated by private groups who provide special care many hospitals, colleges, and universities operate them for outpatients health departments operate them for special services, ie immunizations and STD testing and treatment.

11 Hospice agencies provide care for terminally ill people with life expectancies of 6 months or less. in a facility or person’s home. counseling involved bring comfort and dignity

13 Rehabilitation in hospitals, clinics, or private centers goal-help patients with physical or mental disabilities obtain max self- care and function. physical, occupational, recreational, speech, hearing, etc.
