© The Association of Independent Schools of NSW AIS RTO Reflections on 2014 and plans for 2015

© The Association of Independent Schools of NSW Reflections on 2014  For the AISRTO it was a very busy year preparing for the ASQA audit  The audit was in November and involved 10 schools,15 qualifications and 14 teachers Thank you to all teachers and compliance officers who were involved in the audit

© The Association of Independent Schools of NSW Comments by ASQA Auditors  The AIS RTO has been successfully re-registered for another 5 years with no rectification notices  The auditors noted the excellent facilities and equipment available to students  Recognised the professionalism, enthusiasm and commitment of all staff involved in the audit process  Noted the initiative to develop consistent assessment tools across the RTO

© The Association of Independent Schools of NSW Lessons Learnt  Training and Assessment Strategies  Must meet qualification packaging rules, include assessment plan and check clustering of units  Assessment tools  Assessment tasks clearly linked to units from Training Package – everything must be covered  CAN – must be in plain language and specific  Types of assessment tasks must be appropriate to the unit. Eg. If the unit says “the student must have a knowledge of…” an Observation checklist is not a good type of assessment

© The Association of Independent Schools of NSW Lessons learnt  Industry currency  This was heavily emphasised in the audit  Make sure teachers record currency in Teacher Database and keep evidence eg trail  Validation by industry  Emphasised in audit  Over a period of time the AISRTO will validate with industry tasks that have been produced centrally
