AIS RTO Compliance Officer Update 2016

2 Overview of VET Landscape 2016
Funding to AIS for VET delivery has not grown since 2013 Work Placement Department of Education Etender BOSTES and total VET activity reporting New Skill Service Organisations - Increased emphasis on industry involvement New schools joined the RTO Increase of VET in school funds to$220 and External Delivery to $700 Use of funding to attend Professional Learning SEDA College Key College International Football School Canberra Grammar Australian International School Singapore Coffs Harbour Christian College Service Skills Australia and Community Services and Health Industry Skills Councils no longer have responsibility for training packages and are in the process of ceasing operations and expect to be closed by the end of the financial year.

Compliance Officer network day – moving to a bi-annual event ensure you register for this year . New Compliance Officer online module in development will be showcased on the day, discussion of possible assessor requirements for Hospitality, industry currency and links with local employers

4 Update on Courses Ensure you subscribe to BOSTES Bulletins
Ensure you subscribe to training.gov IDT as per AIS TAS, assessment plan updated, 4 new tasks available Retail – new in 2017 Tourism/Hospitality – revised TP still not signed off – new in 2017 – expected change to assessor quals on some units – units equivalent Entertainment – new version equivalent – new students can be entered in course now – cannot enter in competencies until March Business Services – new course for Year 11 students Primary Industries – assessment tasks for most of course most likely new in ICF in 2017 If anyone needs to catch up on any VET related official notices and news items ... they can be accessed via VET News on the Vocational Education page of the BOSTES website ... and for those who want this information direct to their inbox ... subscribe here. Competency's will be available to schools second weeks in March

5 New qualifications on scope
Certificate II in Sport and Recreation – schools must apply to AISRTO as assessment requires strong links with industry Certificate I in Volunteering – suitable for students in Year 10 Teacher training costs must be authorised by AIS and will be paid on invoice

6 Teacher Training Teacher extended absence (long service leave sick leave) Meeting the benchmark for training Back up teachers will be trained in Semester 2 Industry currency

7 Implementing a VET course into school
Notify the RTO if you are thinking of implementing a VET course Please do not start delivering until the RTO is notified - we need to check resources, teacher qualifications, delivery site especially schools delivery VET courses off site
