iPad Roll Out Parent Workshop

Aims of this Workshop 1. To inform parents of our roll out planning in Foundation Stage. 2. To demonstrate the benefits of technology, iPads and educational APPs 3. To allay fears and worries about having and using school iPads 4. To answer questions and to prepare all for the exciting roll out ahead

This will (not) revolutionise education…..

Evolution, not revolution…. The fundamental role of schools is evolving. Technology is highly effective at delivering information. The role of teachers is to inspire, challenge and nurture.

Educational technology at BSJ 1 to 2 iPads in FS / KS1 1 to 1 iPads in KS2 BYOAD in Secondary Apple TV in every teaching space.

Why iPads? reduced technical issues - used more often and more confidently, seamless use in lessons educational focus - support for use in schools, large support network, widely used integrated and compatible - use of google and apple allows flexible and linked range of APPs huge, established range of APPs - well designed and reviewed for impact on learning - designed to be creative, cognitive and open ended accessible to all - no keyboard or mouse or even writing ability needed light and reliable design - complete mobility, use anywhere, anytime

When will it happen? 16th November onwards Gradual process Adult-led activities in first instance

How is this going to help my child? Essential 21st century skills. Allows communication and expression. Prepares children for KS1 curriculum. Fosters learning focused technology use.

Some common concerns Too much screen time. Accessing content that is not suitable. They will just play games. Replacing traditional skills. Any others?
