1 Looking at one district’s experience with AASB’s CDL program… Making a difference in the way we teach, think, and learn in Bristol Bay

2 What do you want your students to know and be able to do when they graduate? Talk with your neighbor and share a few ideas about why these things are important.

4 We want students prepared for the future, but… Do we really know what the future holds? Can we truly identify what skills they will need and what they will be doing? Is there truly a single set of skills they must have or is it better that they are versatile, flexible, and good problem solvers? Do we really know what the future holds? 5 What role will technology play in the lives of our students? Think of how it has grown as a part of our own lives. Did you ever resist changing to a computer based application in your work or personal life… our students have never known a time when computers weren’t an integral part of their lives. 6 In Bristol Bay we knew that our students were ready… some of our staff and parents would be playing catch up for a while. It is an exciting and interesting time for everyone involved.

7 What were the greatest fears and the greatest hopes when we started? Presenters like David Warlick to help us stretch our understandings Professional development staff like John Rusyniak to help our staff and students learn new applications Help with handbooks, insurance ideas, and other logistical issues to support staff and administration. 11 What difference has the program made in BBBSD? We see developments in creativity in staff and students. We have added two rolling laptop labs for other grades. We have a more dynamic website, school learning environment, and ability to stay connected while traveling. We see developments in creativity in staff and students.
