GLOBAL NUTRITION CLUSTER ANNUAL MEETING 3 rd to 5 th of July 2012 Geneva Introduction and objective of the meeting

DAY ONE OBJECTIVE To review and assess progress made toward the implementation of the GNC work plan along the lines of the GNC strategic priorities. To review the work of the GNC Working Groups and other ad hoc working groups, build a better understanding on the challenges and provide direction to the way forward Update GNC partner on the current IASC initiatives such as the Transformative Agenda and Accountability to Affected Populations in relation to the role and actions of the GNC and have discussions around the implication of those two guidance document on the work of the Nutrition cluster.

Main topics developed during Day one: Update on the re-structuring of the UNICEF cluster coordination unit for the 3 clusters Progress on implementation of cluster work plan linked to GNC strategic priorities Report back and discussion from the 4 working groups Group work: review and identify priority activities for 2012 – 2013 IASC update / Transformative Agenda Presentation on Rapid Response Team mechanism Presentation and review of the competency framework for NiE by cluster partners SC UK IYCF review and GNC, UNICEF, SC UK IYF/IYCF-E Workshop feedback Gender marker

DAY TWO OBJECTIVE Update the GNC partners of the achievements and challenges from selected Country Cluster Coordinators and build a common understanding of country level issues and challenges

Main topics developed during Day two: Presentation of nutrition cluster structures from different countries: -Mali -Somalia -Kenya -Zimbabwe Pakistan nutrition cluster evaluation findings following the flood response Group discussion: identify support needed at global level for Cluster coordination, capacity building, IM, Technical support/ program scale up, lesson capture and dissemination Accountability to affected populations

DAY THREE OBJECTIVE Provide updates on technical issues/initiatives in Nutrition in Emergencies (including links between those initiatives the Nutrition Cluster) Provide direction to the Global Support Team on priority areas for the remainder of 2012 and half of Defines roles and responsibilities among cluster partners and the Global Nutrition Cluster Coordination Team in relation to the implementation of the GNC work plan Identify follow up action in terms of finalising work plans for the GNC as a whole and fund raising in support of the GNC work plan
