Opportunities for CPD and Professional Recognition for Learning and Teaching Velda McCune

The UK Professional Standards Framework The UK Professional Standards Framework provides a general description of the main dimensions of the roles of teaching and supporting learning within the HE environment. It outlines a national Framework for comprehensively recognising and benchmarking teaching and learning support roles within Higher Education. Options: Associate Fellow; Fellow; Senior Fellow; Principal Fellow

The Levels of Fellowship Associate Fellow: e.g. tutors and demonstrators, more limited teaching experience Fellow: e.g. early career academics, those with all ‘areas of activity’ from UKPSF Senior Fellow: e.g. experienced academics, leading and mentoring others Principal Fellow: strategic leadership in relation to learning and teaching Recognition which is portable to other institutions

Quick example from the UKPSF

The Higher Education Academy The Higher Education Academy champions excellent learning and teaching in higher education. A national and independent organisation, funded by the four UK HE funding bodies and by subscriptions and grants. Provides professional recognition against the UK Professional Standards Framework
