CONTENTS  KSTPS has following important parts :- 1) Introduction 3) Basic principle 4) Plant overview 5) Coal Handling Plant 6) Boiler 7) Economiser 8) Air preheater 9) Steam Turbine 10) Generator 11) Ash Handling Plant 12) Water treatment plant

INTRODUCTION  It was established in 1983  It is located at the left bank of the CHAMBAL River at the upstream of KOTA BAIRAJ.  Produce electricity by coal.  Having 7 units (presently) producing continuously  1 st & 2 nd units are of 110 MW each.  3th,4 th & 5 th units are of 210 MW.  6 th &7 th units are of 195 MW  Produce almost 1240 MW energy.  Water supply from kota barrage.

BASIC PRINCIPLE  In thermal power plant heat energy of coal combustion converts into electrical energy.  This heat energy produced by burning the coal in a boiler is used to rise the steam  Steam produced is used to drive the turbine to which coupled the alternator.  Alternator convert mechanical energy into electrical energy.

SITE SELECTION OF THERMAL POWER PLANT  AVAILABILITY OF FUEL  WATER SUPPLY  AVAILABILITY OF LAND  TRANSPORTATION FACILITY  LABOUR AVAILABILITY  ASH DISPOSAL  FAR AWAY FROM THE RESIDENTIAL AREA

OUTLINE LAYOUT

COAL HANDLING PLANT Coal is supplied Through rail Track by own trains By wagon Tripler The coal is drawn Into underground hopper By means of two Belts coal is transferred To the Conveyer Now coal is transferred to Crushing house and stored to bunkers Now coal is fed to Mills Where coal is Crushed in pulverized form Coal is taken to Coal nozzle In wind box assembly From nozzle coal Is discharged to furnace

BOILER  FUNCTION:- To generate steam  It is a closed vessel in which water under pressure is converted into steam  A boiler is always designed to absorb maximum amount of heat released in process of combustion  FURNACE:-It is primary part of boiler where the fuel is Burnt to liberate the heat energy  RAW MATERIAL USED :- Pulvarized coal  COMBUSTION MEDIUM :- Air  FANS :- FD Fan, ID Fan Chemical energy of fuel Thermal Energy by combusti on

ECONOMISER  Economizer is a device which recover the heat from the flue gases on their way to chimney  Its rise the temperature of feed water  It increases the 10-12% efficiency of the plant

AIR PRE-HEATER  Air pre-heater are employed to recover the heat from the flue gases leaving the economiser  super heater and economiser generally cannot fully extract the heat from flue gases

STEAM TURBINE  It is convert stored energy in steam in to the mechanical energy  It is a machine in which shaft is rotated steadly by reaction of steam, air upon blades of a wheel Kinetic energy Mechanical energy

Steam Flow In Turbine SUPERHEATER HP REHEATER IP LP CONDENSER Steam at 535 C STEAM Steam at 545 C Steam at 535C Steam at 545 C

TURBO GENERATOR  An electrical generator is a machine which converts Mechanical energy into electrical energy.  Driven by directly coupled steam turbine at a speed of 3000 r.p.m.  Have two main parts: Rotor Stator  A temperature detector is provided to maintain the temperature.  Temperature of windings is maintain by hydrogen coolant.

ASH HANDLING PLANT Mainly have 3 sub plants:  Air and Gas Plant.  Fuel and Ash Plant.  Ash Disposal and & Dust Collection Plant.  Hydraulic system is used for ash handling in KSTPS  In Yr fly ash utilization is 97.31%

WATER TREATMENT PLANT  Water treatment plant are use for provide the pure and clean water to the boiler.  Because river water contain many suspended impurities  We are required some filter to remove this type of impurities  Carbone filter remove excess chlorine from clarified water

CONTROL ROOM  FAN CONTROL  FUEL CONTROL  STEAM AND WATER CONTROL  TURBINE CONTROL  GENERATOR PANEL CONTROL

THANK YOU
