From City to Continent

Right now you are in your city. Do you know the name of your city?

You are actually in another place, too. While you are in your city, you are also in your state. What is the name of our state? Texas

You’re inside two places at once. Think about these cups. Each cup fits inside another cup that is slightly larger. Your city fits inside your state. Your state is larger than your city.

Your state is inside your country. Your state of Texas is in your country. What is the name of our country? United States of America

City, State and Country That would be similar to stacking 3 cups – the smallest for your city, the next size larger for your state, and the largest one for your country.

Believe it or not – there’s a fourth place! So you are in your city, which is in your state, which is in your country, which is in your continent. The continent that we live in is...

Imagine this… These mixing bowls represent how these four places can fit inside each other. The yellow bowl is your city. The blue bowl is your state. The pink bowl is your country. The orange bowl is your continent. city state country continent yellow
