Supporting children, young people and families living with or closely affected by HIV in London

History Body & Soul est by Emma Colyer MBE Context at the time was no third sector provision for children or women living with HIV Long history of working in the Tri-Borough, Kensington & Chelsea were first local authority to commission our services back in Now commissioned by Westminster and H&F

Evidence-based, innovative, age-appropriate services. Weekly Children’s Centre 0-9 years old and BaSe years old Monthly Teen Spirit years old Fortnightly Young Adults Weekly Adult service 30+ Beyond Boundaries: remote (phone and Skype) peer and professional support for YP 15-30

Services HIV Prevention and Support in the form of Age appropriate workshops Talking therapies including psychotherapy, life- coaching and systemic family therapy Casework, advocacy and housing, immigration and general legal clinics Career advice, library, LaunchPad Complementary therapies including massage, acupuncture, nutrition support, shiatsu and yoga Creative therapies including play and music therapy, arts projects, sensory room

Our services are programmed to fit into our five impact areas: –Physical Health –Mental Health –Practical Support –Psychosocial wellbeing –Maximising productivity Workshops include educating around transmission of HIV, parenting groups, managing stress, productive working with social services, cooking healthy food on a budget, negotiating welfare cuts and understanding medication

Areas of potential collaboration Sharing staff expertise – workshops run across organisations by members of staff. Mutual referral pathway – referring and signposting members within consortium Sharing volunteer training Advocacy and policy consortium Sharing themes, learning and best practice.

Body & Soul’s expertise and USP Pioneering ‘naming’ service for year olds, only one of its kind in the UK OFSTED registered children’s centre with activities leading up to naming. Whole family approach: monthly overarching theme for workshops to ensure consistency, cohesion and ease of communication for all family members Holistic approach: healing the mind as well as the body. Therapeutic work with members only works if practical concerns are addressed. Importance of all these factors. In-house social worker led casework team with regular pro-bono legal clinics. Phone outreach service with access to peer and professional support for those who cannot make it in to our building. Comprehensive transport system for members with mobility issues and small children.
